Activities

Hiking
The mountain area surrounding Heddan Gard offers an abundance of hiking possibilities in a friendly and varied scenery. We have 25 km of marked paths in an easy to walk landscape, with mountains, valleys, brooks, lakes and moors. A 1 km long path also accessible for people with movement disabilities take you around In the close area surrounding the farm. Marked with information posters, the path takes you back in time and give you an insight in the lives of people living here in former times.
Fishing
The brooks and lakes surrounding Heddan Gard is an eldorado for trout fishing, either with lure, flyfishing or bait. In a peaceful environment, both the trained angler as well as the beginner have great possibilities of a good result. An exiting fishing tour along a brook, trying your luck around the next bend, in a pond or the lakes enriches your stay. At Lauvatnet you can fish from the pier, along the shore or from the rowboat while drifting across the lake. The taste of mountain trout is a special experience, and we gladly prepare your catch for the evening meal.


Cykling
Narrow country and farm roads or old paths offers exiting cykeling possibilities where nature and the cultural-landscape can be enjoyed from the seat of a bike. We have bicycles and helmets for rent if you don’t wish to bring your own. We can offer a variety of bike tours, from an hour to a full day trip. If you choose off-road, or decide to stay on the road, we guarantee for an exceptional experience.

Heddan Gard offers a calm and quiet atmosphere, at place to visit when you need to get away from it all and fill up with new energy. Relaxation is close at hand, If you choose to take a walk up in the mountains, stroll around the paths close to the resort, or just sit on the porch reading that book you never had time to before. As hosts at Heddan we want to give you a pleasant stay and we are there if you need information, want to learn more about our history, our culture, enjoy a tasteful local dish, or just need someone to talk to. For us, nothing is impossible, the impossible only takes a little longer time.


Winter Holidays
Winter also has its own charm, and at Heddan Gard we seldom see winter without snow. Tracks from snowmobiles are easy to follow, but it can be even more exiting to make your own track in untouched snow. For those who enjoy downhill skiing with lifts, Eikerappen is 32 km away, Ljosland and Bortelid 65 km, all situated in the neighbour municipality of Åseral. Wet snow is useable for making an igloo, a snow man or just having a friendly snowball fight with your friends.
Points of Interest
Heddan Gard is a good starting point for excursions in the region. There are roads going east , west, north and south of the resort. Lyngdal with its town centre, shops, fjords and swimming resort are only 40 km away. The distance to Kristiansand is 90 km, Flekkefjord , Mandal, the lighthouses at Lindesnes and Lista are only an hours drive away. Stavanger, The “Pulpit” at Lysefjorden, Jøssingfjord, Setesdal and Hardangervidda are all suited for a days excursion.
